Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026 · Product: LOOK (Look Assist)
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Summary
- Camera is used on-device to guide DIY tasks (V1: refrigerator water filters).
- No raw images or video are uploaded. Camera frames stay on your device.
- The app sends anonymous product analytics (structured events such as screen names, guide stage transitions, success/fail buckets, subscription purchase/restore results) and crash + performance diagnostics from Apple's MetricKit. No photos are ever transmitted. After a LOOK+ purchase, these events are linked to a pseudonymous ID (see below), so App Store Connect lists them as linked to you; they are never used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- No account is required for the solo free / LOOK+ experience.
- Purchases use Apple StoreKit; Apple processes payment.
- Optional Amazon product links open Amazon; Amazon's privacy policy applies there. Affiliate disclosure above.
Data we process on device
Camera frames, session progress, local compatibility matches, and guide history stay on your device.
Data that may leave the device
- StoreKit purchase / restore receipts via Apple (required to grant LOOK+ entitlement).
- Anonymous product analytics events sent to PostHog (a product-analytics processor operated by PostHog, Inc., US region). Events include lifecycle signals (app launch, session start/end), screen views, guide stage transitions, feature usage, subscription paywall interactions, and non-fatal error codes. Events carry a random, random install identifier and app-version metadata, and are not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or any real-world identity. After your first LOOK+ purchase, the app also sends a pseudonymous ID derived from a one-way hash of the iOS identifier-for-vendor, together with the product ID, price, currency, trial status and transaction ID. This links that install's events (earlier and later) together, so App Store Connect lists Device ID, Purchase History, Product Interaction, Advertising Data, Crash Data, Performance Data and Other Diagnostic Data as linked to you. None of it is used for tracking, sold, or shared with data brokers. Photos, camera frames and OCR text are never included.
- Crash and performance diagnostics from Apple's MetricKit framework. On the next app launch after a crash, aggregate crash signatures and performance metrics (CPU, memory, hang time) are sent alongside the anonymous analytics events above. These are used to fix reliability regressions and are not linked to identity.
- Apple Search Ads attribution token (AdServices). On first launch the app requests Apple's on-device AdServices attribution token to determine, in aggregate, whether the install came from an Apple Search Ads campaign. Only the resulting campaign name and acquisition source ("apple_search_ads" or "unknown") are recorded. Individual user identifiers are not derived from this token.
- If you tap a purchase link: a standard web request to Amazon / this marketing site.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, health data or Apple ID.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not upload photos, camera frames, OCR text or captured images.
Third-party processors
- Apple, Inc. — StoreKit (purchases / restores), MetricKit (crash + performance diagnostics), AdServices (aggregate Apple Search Ads attribution).
- PostHog, Inc. — anonymous product-analytics ingestion (US region).
