MakeAgain ("the App") helps you discover recipes, cook them and log how they turned out. This page explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and how you can turn it off.
What we collect
- Anonymous product-interaction analytics (PostHog). Events such as opening a recipe, viewing a feed section, logging a cook or importing a recipe URL. Each event carries a random per-install identifier that the App generates on first launch. It is not linked to your name, email or any account, and it is not shared with advertisers.
- Diagnostics. App version and build, iOS version, device type, locale and App Store country are attached to analytics events. If the App crashed on a previous launch, an anonymous crash signature from Apple's MetricKit is sent so we can fix the bug.
- Network data. Like any internet service, PostHog and our recipe API receive your IP address when the App connects. Our PostHog project is set to discard IP addresses without deriving a location from them. We do not collect your location, precise or approximate.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address, phone number or postal address.
- Location (precise or approximate), contacts, calendar, photos, camera or microphone data.
- Advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
We do not sell your data.
Services we use
- PostHog (product analytics, us.i.posthog.com). Session recording is off.
- Fly.io hosts the MakeAgain recipe API (makeagain-api.fly.dev). The App sends it recipe and URL-import requests, which contain no personal information.
- Apple frameworks (MetricKit, StoreKit review prompt) under Apple's own privacy policy.
Your choices
- Turn off analytics: Settings → Analytics → switch off "Share anonymous product analytics". The choice persists across launches, and no further analytics events are sent.
- Delete local data: uninstall the App. This removes the per-install identifier and all locally stored data.
Retention
Anonymous analytics events are kept only as long as they are useful for understanding and improving the App, and are deleted in line with our analytics project's retention settings. Because the events are not linked to your identity, we cannot look up the events of a specific person.
Children
MakeAgain is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
